MGM Resorts Donates $360,000 to ICRG to Support Research and Education about Responsible Gaming

MGM Resorts International has always paid a lot of attention to promoting responsible gaming, and the company ended the year in the same style. The company donated $360.000 to the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) to fund two of its projects that will last for two years and are dedicated to understanding, preventing, and addressing the risks the players may face while gambling.

Important research:

ICRG was founded in 1996, and in the last 27 years, it has become one of the most important funding sources for researching various gambling issues. The body’s researches are known for publishing in renowned scientific journals and for having great results in the field.

Thanks to the MGM Resorts’ donation, the institution will have the opportunity to further expand its education, available to treatment providers, researchers, advocates, operators, regulators, and the ones in charge of public policy and increase their awareness of the problem gambling issue and responsible gambling solutions.

Arthur Paikowsky, ICRG President, commented on this: “We salute MGM Resorts for supporting our research that will answer the many questions we have about the impact of gender on gambling disorder and address the health risks of casino employees. The ICRG is very grateful for the company’s long-standing and continuing support of the ICRG.”

Responsible gaming solutions:

MGM Resorts developed its own responsible gaming program, Game Sense, which was developed specifically for the company back in 2017 by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and got licensed by it as well. The program focuses on having honest and transparent conversations with clients, all related to responsible gambling promotion. In the next year, other operators will be allowed to use the program and benefit from it.

In the next year, MGM’s employees will continue with the necessary training and education, and all of the 60.000 of them will have to be aware of both the benefits and risks of gambling.

Stephen Martino, the company’s Senior Vice President, and Chief Compliance Officer, said: “These research projects are critical to the continued success of the industry and are in the best interest of our guests, company, employees, and the communities where we operate. We’re pleased to continue our financial support of the ICRG and its critical work around responsible gaming best practices.”

But not only MGM is interested in further expanding its knowledge about the issue. The ICRG plans to collaborate with more big operators to further upgrade their approach and education. Among the big names is the American Gaming Association (AGA), which program Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly, has already seen MGM Resorts and BetMGM signing up.

Customers can use various responsible gaming tools and resources on BetMGM’s gaming app, which was created by MGM Resorts and Entain.
